Goal: To strengthen and expand Berea’s local economy.
Local merchant of the month: Highlight a local business on the Sustainable Berea website and in the newsletter. The merchant profile will emphasize how the business contributes to the local economy and well-being of the community. Profiles will be archived on the Sustainable Berea website.
Directory of local merchants: Determine a definition of “local” that fits in the context of Berea, and then assemble a directory of local businesses for hard copy and website publication.
The directory is envisioned as the cornerstone of a future Buy Local campaign. The experience of members of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) with both directories and buy local campaigns (LivingEconomies.org) will be drawn upon for the Berea Local effort
