9th Annual Victory Garden Blitz Serving Madison County
April 1 - 2, 2023

The  Victory Garden Blitz serves people across Berea, Richmond and Madison County. The event relies on about 90 volunteers who work together to build the beds, deliver them, and fill them with soil designed for raised beds. The beds are made from “true 2-inch” cedar boards and measure 3’ X 5’.

We also include a Do It Yourself kit for people who want to build and install their own garden beds. The kit includes pre-cut and drilled cedar boards and the 8 screws you will need to assemble your 3'x5' bed. You must be able to pick up your kit from the Berea Urban Farm on either April 1st or 2nd, 2023.

A variety of educational experiences include on-line classes in urban food production and a special demonstration area for raised bed gardening on the Berea Urban Farm.

Individuals may buy beds for others in the “Pay It Forward” program.  The Blitz provides beds to families regardless of their socio-economic status through the “discounted beds” program.   It is only through the support of dozens of businesses and individuals that the Blitz can provide garden beds at a discount for those who qualify. Phone (859) 985-1689 to apply for a discounted garden bed.

The Blitz is dedicated to increasing food security, building community, improving nutrition and health by helping people grow at home.
