The Four Seasons
Demonstration Garden
Is it too early to plant lettuce?
Should my peas have germinated by now?
How do I tell when to harvest my pole beans?
How can I protect my fall crops against an early frost?
It has always been a big part of the BUF’s work to provide information, training, and mentoring to beginning gardeners. Whether people who have received our raised beds, planter tubs and other materials or people gardening on their own, we want them to have the greatest success by knowing what to do.
Four Seasons Demonstration Garden Open House
Every Saturday morning*, March 28 to October 10
10am to 11am
Berea Urban Farm
The BUF’s new Four Seasons Demonstration Garden is designed to provide weekly guidance for gardeners on planting, maintaining, harvesting, and using their garden produce. Our planting plan includes roughly 50 varieties of vegetables, herbs, flowers and cover crops representing crops that would be planted in an average Berea garden.
BUF staff will be available every Saturday morning to show visitors the garden and answer questions. Signage and brochures will provide visitors at other times with an educational tour. Complementary workshops will provide details on key topics such as composting, fertilizing, pest identification, harvest techniques, seed saving, and cooking with fresh produce.
*except July 4
