BUF Planter Tubs for 2024

Registration for planter tubs is closed.

The Planter Tub Project is a collaboration between the Berea Urban Farm and the Madison County Conservation District (MCCD). The project makes 25-gallon planters filled with soil and compost available to households in Madison County. The planters are made from used cattle feed supplement tubs that have been cleaned and had holes drilled for drainage.

Our goal is to provide another way that families can grow some food, even if they have no garden space. The planters are particularly good for use by kids!

  • Limit one garden planter per household

  • Madison County residents only

  • Each Tub is free.

  • Soil is available for purchase from Sustainable Berea, when you pick up your tub, for $5 per bag. We recommend using 3 bags in each tub.

Tubs will be available for pickup at the Berea Urban Farm (201 Adams Street) in April. Sign up below if you would like to be notified when registration opens for tubs.
